First, here’s a great video of a cool COMET-ME (Community, Energy, and Technology in the Middle East) homemade wind turbine:
Reportedly, COMET-ME “has been building and installing homemade wind turbines and solar panels as a way to provide safe, sustainable electricity to war-torn Palestine.” But Will Bates of 350.org notes that this is all under threat: “that could all change if the Israeli government’s orders to tear down these nascent projects for peace are carried out.”
If you think think these small-scale cleantech projects should be allowed to continue, here’s more info from Bates on how you can help out:
The group JStreet is trying to support these communities and COMET-ME by calling on Ambassador Oren, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, to work with the Israeli Minister of Defence and ensure that these projects not be destroyed.
Click here if you wish to add your voice to the effort and call for these projects to be sustained both as building blocks for peace and a livable planet.
