Nest Expands Into Mexico

Everyone’s favorite smart thermostat company is expanding its business into Mexico — though, unfortunately, it looks as if only the Nest Cam will be immediately available.

According to Nest, at the beginning of the year Nest was only available in seven countries. However, since January, the company has expanded its reach into countries such as Austria, Germany, Italy, and Spain. It’s unsurprising, considering the massive popularity the company has garnered at home, which has helped to bring the thermostat into the 21st-century and provided consumers with visible financial savings.

Navigant Research published numbers last year that showed Nest Labs was one of three leading smart thermostat vendors, along with ecobee and Honeywell. Nevertheless, Nest is directly responsible for a lot of the favorable press and public awareness of the value and benefit of smart thermostats — and, subsequently, other smart home products such as its Nest Cam and Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector.

Nest announced that it will be making only its Nest Cam available to consumers in Mexico — by way of ordering online from Amazon, Best Buy, Liverpool, Palacio de Hierro, or Walmart.com.mx. Nest has ensured that its Nest Aware services will also be available to Mexican customers, providing alerts in Spanish to your phone and video storage.

Nest is also intent on bringing more of its products to more countries.
