On April 20, Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters will host a private event at its headquarters in Fountain Valley, California, to introduce its first 42 passenger electric bus. Crafted using carbon fiber extensively, it will feature a 350 volt drivetrain that uses 96 lithium-ion batteries supplied by China’s Thunder Sky Winston Group. The innovative bus features a central driving position and an all-glass cockpit for maximum visibility all around.

Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters was founded in 1979 by John and George Gaffoglio to build prototype and concept automobiles for the world’s largest automotive manufacturers. Since then, the company has grown to become a world leader in the transportation, aviation, aerospace, and entertainment industries. Because of its global reputation, it was commissioned by Thunder Sky Winston Group to build an all-electric bus that would showcase Thunder Sky’s lithium-ion battery technology.

Thunder Sky Winston Energy Group is a world-class sustainable energy technology company that specializes in electric transportation and power storage. Company founder Dr. Winston Chung has dedicated his career to the development of safe, green energy technology. He conceived and developed the rare earth lithium-ion Winston Battery. The electric bus project is a prelude to a range of vehicles featuring Thunder Sky batteries that are intended for sale worldwide.

The batteries for the bus are contained in a specially designed fire-retardant carbon-fiber enclosure that makes access to the battery easy and convenient when they require servicing. GFM says the bus will elevate the luxury standard of carbon fiber vehicles that use electric power. George Gaffoglio — co-founder and CEO of GFM — will be on hand for the presentation and will be accompanied by several representatives and technicians from Thunder Sky Winston Batteries. Production plans and prices have not been revealed at this time but may be part of the unveiling ceremony.
