GAC Motor EnLight Electric Supercar Concept
One of the top auto manufacturers in China, GAC Motor, unveiled a pretty interesting electric supercar concept, the EnLight, at the somewhat recent Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition.
The electric concept vehicle marks the first from the company, and is “a new milestone in the company’s continuous path of innovation.” In addition to the very fancy and eye-catching butterfly-wing doors, the EnLight concept features 4-wheel independent drive (in-wheel motors) and self-driving functionality.
The president of GAC Motor, Zeng Qinghong, commented: “EnLight is a forward-thinking concept car representing the highest level of GAC Motor’s independent research and development as well as our unparalleled technological capabilities, which will also provide GAC Motor strong confidence and support to seek advanced development in the direction of reaching the top of the auto industry through innovation and creativity.”
A recent press release provides more: “According to Zeng, with the pioneering supercar EnLight, GAC Automotive Engineering Institute will continue researching in prospective areas such as chassis system in new energy vehicles, graphene materials, telematics big data platform and even Virtual Reality (VR) wearable devices, thriving to present the electric, smart, network connected and amiable driving experience.”
The general manager of GAC Motor, Yu Jun, commented as well: “GAC Motor has entered a new era with faster development towards higher-end markets, with the foremost emphasis on innovation and achieving technological breakthrough in all fields from manufacturing to integrating with the internet, our highly advanced and endurable products can achieve greater success in the international market.”
As an endnote to this, it’s worth mentioning that GAC Motor is planning to release 20–30 new models over the next 5 or so years, of which 3 are expected to be ” new energy” models — meaning plug-in electrics, presumably, not hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
