Tesla + Ruby Tuesday = Growing Tesla Supercharger Network, & Waistlines
Tesla and Ruby Tuesday restaurants are partnering as part of the electric auto company’s Supercharger expansion plans, according to a recent press release from Ruby Tuesday. The partnership will see Supercharger stations installed at a number of Ruby Tuesday restaurants throughout the US.
The chief marketing officer for Ruby Tuesday, David Skena, commented: “We’re thrilled to partner with Tesla Motors to offer our guests a place where they can charge their Tesla vehicle while enjoying a delicious meal. Expanding the Supercharger network to include Ruby Tuesday is good for both Tesla owners and our restaurants alike. We look forward to deepening our relationship with Tesla and opening additional Supercharger Stations in Ruby Tuesday markets around the country in the near future.”
The partnership builds on earlier collaborations between the two companies that saw a Supercharger station installed at the Ruby Tuesday location in Miner, Missouri.
As Zach detailed at length the other day, Tesla is partnering with gas stations across Poland (and, presumably, other parts of Europe) and may do so in the US as well, but restaurants are still one of the most ideal locations for charging stations, since much or all of the needed charge can be done simply while waiting to order food, ordering food, eating the food, waiting for the bill, and paying the bill … and then using the bathroom.
Back to the news, this bit from the press release was clearly written by Tesla: “Superchargers are strategically placed to allow owners to drive from station to station with minimal stops. Superchargers allow Tesla drivers to travel up to 270 miles, take a dining break at Ruby Tuesday and get back on the road at full charge. The Tesla Supercharger is substantially more powerful than any existing charging technology, providing up to 120 kilowatts of power and replenishing up to 170 miles of range in 30 minutes.”

While the specific locations of the new Ruby Tuesday Supercharger stations has yet to be revealed, one would presume that they’ll be located so as to fill in potential gaps in the current Supercharger network.
