A California-based solar panel manufacturing company has announced the launch of a new panel that it claims will enable millions of commercial rooftop owners to go solar.

sprint_1Beamreach Solar recently announced the launch of the Sprint Lightweight PV panel that is designed specifically for installation on commercial rooftops. The new panel can be easily installed on nearly all commercial rooftops which currently have to rely on conventional heavy solar PV panels.

The Sprint crystalline silicon solar panels come integrated with a racking system, which enables the installation in a very short duration — the company claims that the installation process is 5 times faster than conventional panels and racking systems.

The maximum power capacity of the panels ranges between 290 watts and 320 watts, and the company claims 20% more generation can be expected from the Sprint panels. The company also claims that more Sprint panels can be accommodated over a given area due to its innovative design. “Sprint’s innovative design also reduces the distance required between panel rows, enabling up to 30 percent more panels to be installed on a roof, increasing the solar system’s overall energy output,” the company stated in a press release.

“Sprint expands the commercial solar market for installers, developers and roofers by allowing them to sell solar to commercial customers whose roofs previously could not support conventional solar systems and by helping them make solar more economically attractive to customers who previously were not interested in solar power,” said Mark Kerstens, CEO of Beamreach Solar.
