Tesla Model 3 Reservations — First In Line (Videos)

I already gave a bit of an intro to our morning in line at the Santa Monica Tesla store, where Kyle Field and I put down 4 reservations for the Tesla Model 3, but I also recorded a number of interviews with some of the notable people in line there (who we were quite surprised to find at that location).
To kick off the release of more of these videos, below is a video of me walking along the reservation line in Santa Monica, which seemed to reach ~300 people by the time we left. Following that are video interviews I conducted with the people at the front of the line at that store, and with people next to us in line. Enjoy the videos!
It was interesting to me that the people at the very front of the line had been Tesla fans almost since the beginning, and also how much demand there seemed to be for autopilot (not that I don’t understand!). It would have been cool to survey the entire line, but I didn’t think of that ahead of time, and we spent our entire morning before the store opened talking with people in line anyway.
It was a bit of a shocker to me that some people in line found out about Tesla just from seeing it on the roads … California is a unique place. But that is something we can expect a lot more in the coming years as people see the falcon-wing doors on the Model X unfold, as they see the frontends of the Model X, Model S, and Model 3 (smooth as a baby’s bottom! … well, not quite), and as Teslas continue their exponential growth.
Congrats to the dudes in the front who camped out for 2 full nights and nearly 2 full days to make the first reservation at the historic Santa Monica store.
And one last time: thanks to everyone who let me question them about their anticipated car… which, remember, we only knew would have a range of 200+ miles and a price of $35,000 at the time of these interviews. If you happen to be reading this, let us know what you think of the Model 3 (be sure to check out our exclusive pics and videos from the test track and interviewing Matt & Roger of EVANNEX abuot the test ride).
