Off Grid Electric is one of many small businesses bringing solar power and LED lighting to the developing world, but it has some unique approaches and advantages that I think helped it to win this year’s Zayed Future Energy Prize in the SME category. It also has the backing of well known companies like SolarCity and DBL Partners. I was interested in finding out more about the company’s background, corporate philosophy, and aims while interviewing CEO and co-founder Xavier Helgesen this week, right after Off Grid Electric won the Zayed Future Energy Prize.
