If you’re getting excited about the upcoming Solar Impulse 2 round-the-world solar flight, I think you’ll enjoy the following videos I recorded during a Solar Impulse–Masdar event in the midst of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week earlier this year.
The first one (below) includes presentations from Solar Impulse pilots and co-founders Bertrand Piccard & André Borschberg as well as Masdar Director of Sustainability Dr Nawal Al Hosany. They highlight the point of the Solar Impulse round-the-world (#RTW) flight, and why Masdar and Solar Impulse are such a good match.
In response to a questioner, this next video features Bertrand Piccard much further explaining why Masdar and Solar Impulse teamed up. André Borschberg also discusses the biggest challenges of the #RTW journey. Bertrand Piccard also makes a wonderful statement regarding fear, global warming, and flying around the world in a solar airplane.
Lastly, the video below is of Bertrand Piccard explaining to a questioner the connection between Star Trek’s Jean-Luc Picard and himself.
Fun stuff. 😀
