Quentin Clark and Suzy Wadsworth of Waitrose recently set out on a Nissan Leaf road trip that demonstrates Nissan Leaf’s superb flexibility in the UK now, thanks to Ecotricity’s Electric Highway. The video is full of fun and useful British commentary, clips of charging, clips of driving, clips of shopping and eating at Waitrose (which seems to have perhaps sponsored the video?). Overall, a good ride. Enjoy!

Charging is free at these ecotricity charge points. It makes sense, people are stopping at a grocery shop for an hour and will buy things. All charging points should be free, near business premises. This was the California experience, if you charge money they don’t use the charge points. This is a great model solution. Many different technologies are emerging and each one will suit a particular customer niche. If someone makes a formula to help people pick which electric car is most suitable for them then please don’t forget about Plug-in Hybrid Conversions, this is still the cheapest way to drive using electric power for daily commutes, regards plughybrid.de

Seems like they had a good time on the adventure. I wonder what happened to the battery being quick-charged 10 times to 100% in one day. This is not really what a Leaf is designed for.

Well done…. we need more chargers in the states…

Yeah. A bit easier in a country the size of the UK. But yeah, need to keep installing them!

Excellent video…130kwh of electricity at a US price of say 0.15 per kwh would be about 20 dollars. So 500 miles divided by 20 is 25 miles per dollar. At a gas price of 3.30 that would be about 80 something equivalent miles per gallon.
    I want one;-)

      Thanks for the math. :D
