Electric Vehicle Sales Experts Converge On Berlin April 9th
If you have a keen eye and are an obsessive follower of the electric vehicle industry, you may have already noticed that we have some genuine world leaders in the EV industry speaking at our “Cleantech Revolution Tour → Berlin” event (updated agenda here, and event site here).
Unfortunately, I’m not talking about Elon Musk, JB Straubel, or Carlos Ghosn (though, they are free to attend if they feel like stopping in). But the EV speakers we have on board are at the top of their respective fields, from what I can tell. First of all, in this piece, I’m providing an introduction to the trio from EV-Volumes, a new partner of EV Obsession and CleanTechnica.
EV-Volumes Trio
Always interested in the auto industry, particularly in electric cars, José Pontes has been overviewing the sales evolution of plug-in vehicles through the EV Sales blog since 2012, allowing him to gain an expert view on where EVs are right now, and where they are headed in the future. The EV Sales blog has become a go-to source for people interested in electric car sales around the world. I found out about it when one or two of our readers sent me in that direction. Extending that work and expertise, José is now a partner at EV-Volumes.
I’ll note that, for a few months, I spent a significant amount of time trying to gather electric car sales data from government agencies, nonprofits, and sales aggregators. I can tell you, that is a difficult thing to do. I eventually dropped the effort. The fact that José does this for so many countries is astounding, in my opinion.
To broaden the appeal and commercial case for the data José collects and his expert opinion, Viktor Irle and Roland Irle founded EV-Volumes, with José as a partner. Growing up in an auto-producing city in Sweden, Viktor indicates that he has had an interest in cars for as long as he can remember. Writing his thesis about speed-controlled electric engines, and later studying industrial transformation and technological change, the great emerging opportunities of EVs made him jump on the EV train and cofound EV-Volumes, which is aimed at becoming the premier source of EV industry sales data (well, it seems it already is) and a top EV consultancy.
Enjoying a lifelong interest in cars and technology, with over 20 years of auto-industry experience, Roland is also now convinced that the best cars for the future will be EVs. He brings technical development experience and over a decade of EV knowledge and activism to the trio.
