Zeekr 001 Has Insane Acceleration & Range For The Price

Pre-sales of the new and improved Zeekr 001 have begun in China, and, wowza, this is a package and a half. The electric car can scoot from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.83 seconds. That’s right — 2.83 seconds. It also has a rated range on a full charge of 810 km (503 miles). That’s more than twice the range of my Tesla Model 3.

I can’t help but think about James Bond when I see Zeekr’s naming system, but this car is legit worthy of being a James Bond car. Or perhaps it would be the car for whoever is Agent 001. (Google tells me that’s Edward Donne.)

We don’t yet know what the price of the new Zeekr 001 is, but the original 001 launched a little more than a year ago with a price of RMB 259,000 ($36,314) to RMB 329,000 ($46,129). So, yeah, that pricing doesn’t make sense considering the range and acceleration, but it’s China.

It would be a real struggle to be on the market for an electric vehicle in China. You’ve got the Onvo L60, the GAC Aion RT, the Avatr 07, the NIO ES8 — and these are just new and upgraded models we’ve covered this week! There are also all the other NIO models, all the XPENG models, and, of course, all the BYD models. How can consumers ever choose with so many options on the market?!

Getting back to the Zeekr 001, here are some more details and specs on the model:

• 900-volt high-voltage architecture, up from 800-volt high-voltage architecture in previous version of the model
• 680 kW (912 horsepower, 925 Ps) on AWD version of the 001 (up from 580 kW)
• top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph)
• acceleration time of 2.83 seconds 0 to 100 km/h (3.3 seconds in previous year)
• acceleration time of 4.98 seconds 0 to 100 km/h with RWD variant
• 95-kWh Zeekr Golden Battery or 103-kWh CATL Qilin Battery
  • with Golden Battery: 710 kilometers of rated range (441 miles), 12C peak charging rate, 10–80% (500 km/311 miles) charge possible in just 7 minutes
  • with Qilin Battery: 810 kilometers of rated range (503 miles), 6C peak charging rate, 570% (500 km/311 miles) charge possible in just 10 minutes

The Zeekr 001 will be in Zeekr stores starting October 4, and the official launch of the electric station wagon/shooting brake is scheduled for October 11.
