President Trump Likely To Withdraw From Climate Agreement, Says Myron Ebell

United States President Donald Trump is likely to withdraw America from the Paris climate agreement, according to former adviser and world-renowned crackpot climate change denier, Myron Ebell.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Global Warming Policy Foundation and the Foreign Press Association in London, former Donald Trump adviser Myron Ebell has explained that he believes Donald Trump will soon withdraw from the historic Paris climate change agreement. Though he is no longer in Trump’s inner-circle, Myron Ebell advised Donald Trump during his campaign on environmental issues. This, despite the fact that Ebell has no scientific degrees or qualifications. Ebell was also appointed head of the transition team for the Environmental Protection Agency, back in late-November. One of Myron Ebell’s pearls of ‘wisdom’ was given to Business Insider early in 2016:

“I think that the global warming movement has three parts: One is to exaggerate the rate of warming, one is to exaggerate the potential impacts of warming, and how soon they may occur, and the third is to underestimate wildly the costs of reducing our emissions by the magical amount that they have picked.”

Speaking this weekend, Myron Ebell explained that Donald Trump had made a number of “clear black and white” promises on climate and energy throughout his campaign, and that “President Trump made it clear he would withdraw from the deal.”

“I expect Donald Trump to be very assiduous in keeping his promises, despite all of the flack he is going to get from his opponents. He could do it by executive order tomorrow, or he could wait and do it as part of a larger package. There are multiple ways and I have no idea of the timing.”

Despite the fact that Ebell no longer has any contact with the US President, and apparently had no face-to-face meetings with Donald Trump during the administration’s transition, he nevertheless has a point. As we have seen in the first week of Donald Trump’s presidency, he has indeed signed a number of executive orders putting into effect, or initiating policies he said he would during his campaign.

Many of those policies were deemed rhetoric at the time, to court the middle-American voter, but in hindsight, it appears that Donald Trump meant what he said — a rare occurrence.

Nevertheless, there are a few things opposing Myron Ebell’s take on the situation, not least of all Donald Trump’s recently appointed Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, who said during his Senate confirmation, regarding the Paris Agreement:

“I think it’s important that the United States maintain its seat at the table in the conversation on how to address threats of climate change.”

Myron Ebell believes that Donald Trump “would prefer not to have a seat at the table,” but one wonders who is going to have the last laugh?
