A number of Gildemeister’s CellCube energy storage systems were recently deployed in the Czech Republic, as part of various projects, according to recent reports.
For those unfamiliar, the Šumava National Park is part of the broader Bohemian Forest, which is itself one of the biggest integrated forest areas in the whole of continental Europe, and home to notable populations of various wildlife. As Gildemeister’s CellCube energy storage system is based around vanadium, and not explosive or flammable, one presumes those facts factored into the decision to contract the company for the forest project.
The company also recently installed one of its energy storage systems at the South Bohemian Science and Technology Park, in Budweis, somewhat (~100 kilometers) south of Prague. That installation is designed to function along side a 76-kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system that’s been installed there. It features 130 kWh of storage capacity and a 30 kW maximum power output.
The reason for the installation of this system is reportedly as a means of increasing the self-consumption of the electricity generated by the on-site solar PV system, and as a means of protecting against power outages.
“We are very glad that the partnership with B64 works out so well,” stated Bengt Stahlschmidt, Head of Global Sales of Gildemeister. “For 2015 already three further CellCube installations are planned in cooperation with B64.”
