Netherlands Electric Car Sales — Volkswagen Golf GTE Now Queen, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Princess
Originally published on EV Obsession.
Unsurprisingly, when I finally found an electric car driver who I could interview about charging EVs in Amsterdam, he was driving a Golf GTE, and he was kind enough to drop a short review of the Golf GTE on me as well, so check that out!
Anyhow, though, getting back to the sales (or registrations, to be precise), the Outlander PHEV is still well above the rest of the pack at #2. Behind it, the Audi A3 e-tron and Volvo V60 PHEV are neck and neck for the year, but the brand new Mercedes 350e just jumped onto the list at #3 in June, so I’ll keep an eye on it in the second half of this year. The stunning Tesla Model S holds a pretty strong grip on #5, but I could see it being overrun by the Mercedes 350e based on June numbers. We’ll see….
To have a gander at all of the numbers yourself, check out the following two charts and table that I just put together (thanks to José Pontes for the numbers*):
*Note that these registration numbers require some assumptions and are not all from an official source. I’ve tried to track down complete numbers in the past, but the nature of the beast these days is that they just aren’t available. I’ve also found mistakes and odd assumptions in José’s numbers in the past, but they are still far and away the best I have found aggregated on the internet. So, be cautious with how you use these sales statistics, but the general picture should be accurate and useful.
