The Department’s latest infographic — Solar Decathlon 2013: The Path to a Brighter Future — takes a look at the teams competing in this year’s competition and highlights innovative design features in each of the teams’ houses, writes the Department of Energy.

From the selection process and fundraising to the design and building process, we’re documenting some of the steps along the way in this two-year competition. Our new infographic — Solar Decathlon 2013: The Path to a Brighter Future — takes a look at the teams competing in this year’s competition and highlights innovative design features in each of the teams’ houses.

The Orange County Great Park is an awesome venue for hosting the Solar Decathlon competition and exhibition. This is the site of the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, which the City of Irvine is turning into sustainable parkland for family recreation.

It’s an exciting time as we are in the final stretch in preparing for the Solar Decathlon 2013 and XPO. The opening day for the event is October 3.

It’s FREE! Public hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily:
