Report Highlights Importance of Making “Low-Carbon, Water-Smart” Energy Choices
We need to make low-carbon, water-smart energy choices today if we’re to avoid the worst effects of climate change and make our energy infrastructure resilient, according to a comprehensive new study by the Energy and Water in a Warming World Initiative (EW3) released last week.
Pursuing energy strategies centered on low-carbon renewables and energy efficiency gains can not only protect ecosystems and the products and services we derive from them, but doing so can also insulate societies from conflicts over water and energy resources and rising energy prices. The effort, however, requires cooperation across stakeholder groups at the local, national, regional, and international levels.
The following infographic provides a nice, visually rich summary of the main facts and findings of EW3’s “Water Smart Power: Strengthening the U.S. Electricity System in a Warming World” report.
