Tesla Is The Most Purchased New Car In Switzerland

The most purchased new car in Switzerland is a Tesla, according to a report by RebelinkPress, which cited Reuters, and a report presented by the Association of Automobile Importers, Auto-Suisse. According to the report, the market for new cars in both Switzerland and Liechtenstein ended 2021 with a 0.7% increase compared with 2020.

Despite this, there are some good things to point out. Demand for new passenger cars is increasing, especially when compared with 2020, and that change is driven by more interest in electric vehicles. Also, an EV is now at the top of the list. That is the Tesla Model 3, which took first place among all types of vehicles with 5,074 vehicles sold.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to a tweet by Kristen (K10) who initially shared the article by RebelinkPress. I think he is happy with the good news and I’m sure Tesla employees are proud of their accomplishments not just in Switzerland but globally.

It’s not surprising that Tesla is a popular choice for those in the market for a new car. It’s a similar story in the USA. Recently, Kelley Blue Book released its Brand Watch report, which noted that one out of four new car shoppers in the first quarter of 2022 considered buying a hybrid or an EV. Although the number one choice was a hybrid, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, EVs are climbing. The top EV was the Tesla Model 3 (3rd overall among hybrids and EVs), followed by the Tesla Model Y (4th) and then the Ford F-150 Lightning (7th).

It’s good to see countries in Europe such as Switzerland embracing Tesla and EVs. Overall, the European market is far ahead of the US in terms of market share of new vehicles being electric vehicles. And as Giga Berlin continues to ramp up its production, I’m sure we’ll see similar stories.
