Renault & Ferrovial Create New Carsharing Service In Madrid — Zity
Renault and Ferrovial have begun a joint venture and created Zity, a fresh electrified carsharing service that will launch in October. The first fleet of electrified cars — 500 Renault ZOEs, to be exact — will be located within Madrid, Spain (the M-30 Beltway and in some adjoining areas).
Madrid’s pedestrians will breathe less smog. Travelers and urbanites alike will benefit from the finesse and quiet of Zity. “Zity combines Ferrovial Services’ capacities in the area of municipal services and environmentally friendly solutions with Renault’s experience as Europe’s foremost supplier of electric cars and a leading brand in the field of sustainable mobility,” a Renault press release stated.
Madrid is seeing some inspired clean air choices. CleanTechnica earlier reported that Irizar was awarded a contract for Madrid’s first 15 twelve-meter electric buses + Barcelona’s first 4 eighteen-meter articulated buses. Another first found Uber launching UberOne luxury service in Madrid using Tesla Model S sedans. Keep the planet moving forward, Madrid!
And why use the new ZOE in this Madrid program? The carsharing service finds the new ZOE is the only mass-market electric car on the market to offer a NEDC range of 400km, equal to about 300km in real-world conditions. Carsharing vehicles should have long range. The ZOE does.
Due in good part to its long range, as well as its affordable price, the Renault ZOE continues to lead the pack in European electric car sales.
