Homes Now For Sale in Toyota's "LED Town"

Have you always dreamed of living in a Japanese town lit up entirely by LED lights? If so, you might want consider purchasing a lot in the town of Azabu no Oka. The town, which is currently under construction, features LED lights on streets, sidewalks, and parks. Each home also has LEDs lighting its gate, porch, and walls. As a result of these features, power consumption will be reduced 75% compared to normal light sources.

Once completed, Azabu no Oka will boast 1,000 white LEDs that have a color temperature of around 3,000K.

The town’s designers used only LEDs with high luminance efficiency in order to illuminate the minimum necessary areas. The irradiated areas of LEDs have been widened to give the impression of heightened brightness.

Toyota has also planned for hybrid car usage by equipping each subdivision with an exterior LED light as well as an AC 100V outlet.
