Tesla has made some impressive EV charging progress recently. First, there’s the rather large new EV charging hub in Southern California that is primarily supported using solar power. Secondly, many more EV chargers for fully electric semi trucks were announced. Now there is word of a new fast charging hub with about 400 stalls, and they are V4 chargers that can charge up to 500 kW.
The original poster replied to a negative comment explaining that there are canopies, so some of the chargers at the huge new hub may be solar powered.
The new hub will be in Yermo, CA, not far from San Bernardino. A person might wonder, why Yermo? It may be because it is on the way to Vegas, which is a favorite destination for Southern Californians to visit via personal transportation. In fact, Eddie World, which some say is the largest gas station in California, is located near there as well. So, with all those drivers going back and forth from SoCal and Vegas, adding a new EV charging hub could be a great boon to electric driving.
The distance between Yermo and Vegas is about 145 miles, so it is not exactly the midpoint between LA and Vegas but somewhat close to it. Yermo is also near Barstow.
We appear to be living in peculiar times for electric vehicles in the United States, with the federal incentives gone but some states still offering them. There has also been a steady expansion of electric vehicle charger installations both in the US and abroad. So, one might conclude that anti-EV and anti-clean energy politicians can not stop the sustainability movement. This is not just good news, it is great news.
In the US, with the upcoming midterm election, the balance of political power may shift away from the most conservative politicians, thus blocking their repeated efforts to support the most polluting, harmful technology and ruin the most current, much cleaner technologies.
