The Jaguar I-PACE will finally be fully unveiled on March 1st — via a global, online broadcast to begin at 19:00 CET — a new press release has revealed. Accompanying this will be the opening of ordering and the official announcement of pricing.
We reported awhile back on the expected pricing for the Jaguar I-PACE in the EU, but this was unofficial information, which will presumably be shown to have been true.
In addition, the all-electric SUV model will be getting an official premiere less than a week later, at the Geneva Motor Show (on March 6th).
Interestingly, accompanying the announcement was the news that Jaguar has been conducting extensive testing of the model in northern Sweden — at Jaguar Land Rover’s cold weather testing facility in Arjeplog; where temperatures have gotten as low as -40° Celsius.
Also notable is that the I-PACE will reportedly be capable of being charged to 80% in under 45 minutes (via a DC 100 kW charger) — which will make the model fairly practical for many people’s needs (considering the range), presuming that rapid charging infrastructure in Europe doesn’t take to long to deploy.
Commenting on the news, Jaguar Vehicle Line Director Ian Hoban stated: “Not only will the I-PACE charge quickly enough for our customers to carry out their everyday lives, it will offer powerful and precise performance in a variety of conditions and climactic extremes. Allied with the versatile credentials of our celebrated PACE family, this will be an electric performance SUV like no other.
The press release provides more: “Customers will be able to use mains power to prepare the car’s battery and cabin temperature ahead of a journey. Pre-conditioning the car ensures maximum range, performance and comfort whether temperatures are freezing cold or extremely hot. Setting up preferred charging times and pre-conditioning schedules can be done from either the on-board InControl system, or the Remote smartphone APP, and is as easy as setting an alarm.”
Nothing too surprising there, but all good to hear.
We’ll give you another update on the Jaguar I-PACE following the official March 1st unveiling event.
