The US energy storage project pipeline has doubled in 2018, reaching an impressive 32.9 gigawatts (GW) according to the latest US Energy Storage Monitor published this week, providing what the authors describe as a “clear signpost” that energy storage in the United States is the bullish new technology for developers.
The United States had its largest ever quarter for energy storage deployment this year, deploying 234 megawatt-hours worth of energy storage across the first quarter of the year, representing a more than fiftyfold growth as compared to the same quarter a year earlier.
New figures from GTM Research has revealed corporate investment in the energy storage sector reached an all-time high in the third quarter, totaling $660 million and bringing the annual cumulative total up to $812 million.
The United States deployed 60.3 MW of energy storage during the third quarter of the year, bringing the year’s cumulative total up over 100 MW.
