Prepping For World Electric Car (Tesla) Distance Record Attempt

This weekend, members of the Tesla Shuttle crew are going to attempt to break the world record for miles/kilometers driven on a single charge in an electric car. The attempt is being led by Tomasz Gać, founder/CEO of Quriers and co-founder of Tesla Shuttle. But I’m also one of those people and will be doing a good chunk of the driving — weather permitting. A third co-founder, Jacek Fior, and I did a test drive for several hours recently. Below the video (and in the video chat) are some of my notes from that test drive.

Tesla Shuttle To Attempt World Record In Electric Driving Distance (#Electrifying Webinar)

This coming weekend, Tomasz Gać, Jakub Stechly, and I are going to attempt to break the world record for miles driven in an electric car on a single charge. This attempt was planned before a group of Italians recently crushed the previous record, so they’ve certainly made our task more difficult, but we’re still hopeful. Weather permitting, the last charge of a Tesla Model S 100D will take place on Saturday evening. The route is basically Poznań–Łódź–Wrocław–Łódź–Wrocław (with some nuance).

BYD Song Is China’s Tesla Model Y (China Electric Car Sales Report)

Some 44,700 new electric cars started zooming the Chinese streets last month, which made July the second best month ever for the segment. The electric car market grew 37% compared to the same month last year. The sales also pulled the YTD count to over 227,000 units, up 40% year over year (YoY). Additionally, regarding overall stock, a notable milestone has been reached — over one million plug-in cars are now registered in China (from 2009 until now), making it the first market to reach a 7-digit figure. Chinese electric cars now represent 40% of all plug-car stock in the world (which is up to around 2.6 millions).

Tesla — A Challenger Brand, The Ultimate Challenger Brand

Going up against Big Auto is no easy task. They’re seasoned players with deep pockets and political influence. But Big Auto companies continue to be complacent when it comes to their flailing electric vehicle programs. Their leaders cling to the gas pump, while Tesla [NASDAQ: TSLA] electrifies — blowing past the likes of GM, Ford, and even BMW to become the third-largest automotive brand by market capitalization. How did Tesla pull this off?
