Leaf & Zoe Ahead Of The Pack In Europe (#CleanTechnica Electric Car Sales Report)

The European passenger plug-in market continues pushing forward, registering some 29,000 registrations in May. That’s up 38% compared to the same period last year and pulls the year-to-date (YTD) count to over 146,000 deliveries (+44%), keeping the 2018 market share at 2.1% (2.0% in May). Fully electric cars (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) grew at the same pace (+38%) in May, with plug-in hybrids now having an advantage of 6,000 units. Will we see all-electrics bounce back in the second half of the year?

Tesla Cuts Hit Close To Home

My follow-up report to my last CleanTechnica dispatch — the article in which I explained the basics of the my solar array/Powerwall/charging station installation — was supposed to be a show & tell from the Tech Talk Tesla Energy personnel. It was planned at my house for June 23. This would have been a brief presentation by our Tesla Energy Advisor as to the overall installation of our 8.125 kW array and support equipment as well as the advantages of having a Powerwall in the loop and a charging station, for those fortunate enough to have already moved to electric vehicles. I planned on giving rides in my Model S and at least one Model 3 owner was expected to attend.

In 2018, with all-electrics reaching 1% share and plug-in hybrids are dropping their share to 0.9%, the total PEV share of the German car market is 1.9%.

Tesla Model X One-Hour Video Review

This video might be financially dangerous because you may want a Tesla Model X after watching it. It starts with a number of details about the doors, but the most compelling part is the driving section, which is toward the end.

One of the most remarkable points, the reviewer says, is that the vehicle is very quiet. This is obviously because there is no internal combustion engine and no exhaust system. “You feel so relaxed by that, and I really just love it,” he explains.

Perhaps more telling is the comment, “this car really feels like no other,” which he also says is the main characteristic of the vehicle.

Tesla Moves To Close A Dozen SolarCity Facilities Across 9 States

An exclusive Reuters report published last week dealt an unfortunate blow to the US solar industry, revealing that EV giant Tesla’s move to cut 9% of its workforce will subsequently downsize subsidiary SolarCity, the company’s residential solar business that it acquired in November 2016, resulting in the closing of approximately a dozen installation facilities and ending a retail partnership with Home Depot.
