In New York, traditional auto dealers have been fighting against both Tesla and other automakers from allowing their customers to buy directly from them. It’s a tale as old as the EV movement — the dealerships don’t want Tesla or other automakers to sell directly to their customers.
This year has been incredibly challenging for many people. This year also saw the rise of a new anti-EV bill, as many refer to it, in Michigan.
Several states would like Tesla to make them their new home. Tesla has a golden opportunity to drive a stake through the heart of franchise dealer laws. Now you be a good time to take advantage of it.
In a minor victory for the company in its ongoing conflict with the various car dealership associations of the US, Tesla has maintained its right to open a new gallery showroom on Greenwich Avenue (Greenwich) in Connecticut.
You won’t find many people in the US who have anything good to say about car dealerships (unless they or one of their family members work for one). There’s the general feeling of being ripped off, the intentional obfuscation, and reneging on “promises” by the salesperson. There’s the often slow and non-transparent shipping and delivery process, etc.
The ongoing battle between Tesla Motors and various auto dealership associations throughout the country grinds on … with Tesla apparently losing the ability to sell directly to consumers in Missouri (following the decisions by a local judge to deny Tesla’s request to temporarily halt his earlier judgment while the case is appealed). However, Tesla was then quickly granted its motion to stay (or temporarily halt) the lower court’s judgment by the Missouri Court of Appeals.
