In anticipation of the wide adoption of such services and technologies, the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Transdev are partnering to develop on-demand self-driving electric vehicle mobility services, according to a new press release from the companies.
The CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn (62), will be stepping down after 16 years in that role, according to recent reports. The move will reportedly allow Ghosn to focus on the deployment of “his cost-cutting expertise” across the alliance — at Renault SA and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, in addition to Nissan.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance has announced that it has stayed at the top of the EV charts globally, especially with Mitsubishi Motors now in the fold. “The Renault-Nissan Alliance, with Mitsubishi Motors, cumulatively sold 424,797 electric vehicles through 2016, making it the undisputed leader in zero-emission mobility,” an announcement stated.
“We started at the beginning. We were seeing something that other people did not see. Now they are seeing it.” Carlos Ghosn explains that the Renault-Nissan Alliance has been a leader and continues as a catalyst in advancing autonomous vehicle technology, and it aims to continue that leadership.
