If I’m being honest, I wasn’t that excited about the RadRover Step-Thru when I first heard about it. It’s nothing against the bike, I’ve just found that over time, going into a product review with zero or negative expectations is actually a great place to start. But in contrast with many things I review that simply perform as expected, the RadRover Step-Thru electric bike absolutely blew me away.
Rad Power Bikes is kicking off the new year with a new model and improvements across nearly its entire line of e-bikes. The big news is an all new RadRover Step-Thru that brings the power of electric mobility to even more customers in a new build that combines the fat tires from the RadRover and a new low-step frame that makes it easier to mount.

After spending a few weeks ripping around town on its RadMini Step-Thru, we wanted to look behind the curtain to see where the company came from and what makes it tick, so I sat down with Rad Power Bikes co-founder and CMO Ty Collins for a chat.
Rad Power Bikes is a US-based bike company that is charging into the world of e-bikes with a rapidly expanding fleet of outside-the-box bike solutions to meet the needs of a wide range of customers. They sent us their $1,499 RadMini Step-Thru so we could run it through the paces in a variety of situations, with a handful of differently sized humans to see how it fared.
Rad Power Bikes’ Rad Rover and Rad Wagon impressed CleanTechnica’s Nicolas Zart and now the company is kicking things up a notch with a refresh of its lineup for 2019. The refresh is being led by the introduction of a new folding, step-through ebike called the RadMini Step-Thru that makes its RadMini an easier bike to ride with a step-through design and a more compact frame.
