In March 2019, the Fremont Police Department began testing a Tesla Model S 85 that was customized for patrol operations. Testing ended one year later, and yesterday, the Fremont Police Department released the test results and emailed them over to CleanTechnica (and surely other media outlets).
The Hyundai Kona Electric is a competitive, compelling, popular electric vehicle. It has relatively long range (up to ~300 miles), a crossover type of size/class, and a relatively low price. As such, it’s one of the best selling electric vehicles in the world, and it’s also one of the top choices among police forces, particularly in Europe.
It makes sense for police departments all across America to make the switch to electric vehicles, and Tesla, with its affordable Model 3, is a prime candidate.
I believe there are police officers everywhere who want to switch to electric cars — or are at least interested in finding out more about them. In Europe, the Hyundai Kona EV is a particularly popular model with the police.
