The European passenger plug-in market had a near-record month in June, with 28,000 registrations, up 54% over the same month last year. For the year through June, the market is up 30% this year, with the EV share now standing at a record 1.5%.
Pope Francis was presented with his all-new Opel Ampera-e — a rebranded Chevy Bolt EV — at the recent Laudato Si sustainability conference by Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann, as revealed in a recent press release.
The first three consumer Opel Ampera-Es (Ampera-E?) for Norwegian customers have arrived in Norway, with these first three deliveries handed over to the owners by Opel’s Chairman and Managing Director for Norway, Bernt G. Jessen.
The Opel Ampera-e (the rebranded Chevy Bolt EV) will have a starting price of €34,950 in Germany, according to recent reports. The top trim will, accordingly, be priced at €39,680. These prices include the so-called “environmental discount” (electric vehicle incentive) of €4,380.
The online range calculator for the Opel Ampera-e (the rebranded Chevy Bolt EV) is now active, bringing with it a number of important questions. For example, is the range of the Opel Ampera-e truly as affected by cold weather as it seems to be?
Norway recently took delivery of its first Opel Ampera-e EVs, with 10 units making it to Jessheim (a city a bit north of Oslo).
As rumored, France’s PSA Group has now agreed to acquire GM’s Opel division, in a deal that puts the value of the business at €2.2 billion ($2.3 billion).

GM is reportedly now in talks with the French auto manufacturer PSA Group about a possible sale of its Germany-based Opel division. If these talks do lead to a sale, that wouldn’t be too surprising, as Opel has reportedly been a money loser for GM for quite some time now.
Advertisements for electric vehicles have, to date, been rather underwhelming on the whole. Or non-existent, in the case of conventional ads for Teslas. Would a good ad help to boost sales? Probably, but that would entail that many manufacturers actually want to move electric vehicles in serious numbers.
