Portugal is experiencing a serious oil crisis — fuel truck drivers are on strike, hundreds of gas stations have been closed, and the situation is worsening. Even flight operations are being affected during this time of crisis.

Price of fossil fuels (oil (2) and natural gas(3)) in the U.S. are at 14 year lows. The amount of electricity generated using coal in the U.S. is at its lowest level since 1970 (4) and last year, natural
gas surpassed coal as the top U.S. fuel used to produce electricity.
