BYD is amping up charging speeds on its forklifts this week with the addition of a second AC charging port. The second port allows BYD’s forklifts to charge with two adapters from a single wallbox at a maximum power of 400 amps at 240 volts, or 166 kW. That is faster than most DC fast chargers and ensures forklift operators will be able to maximize the use of their BYD forklifts.
BYD continues to sprint towards electrifying every vehicle category in the world with news today that it is adding an electric forklift production facility in the Southern California city of Rancho Dominguez. The new 50,000 square foot facility will also include supporting offices, warehousing, and demonstration space to show potential customers what these new lithium iron phosphate-powered vehicles are capable of.
New energy company and plug-in vehicle manufacturer BYD is pushing into yet another new market segment with the announcement of its two new fully electric tow tractor models – also known as tugs. The new tugs have the potential to replace the little carts commonly found running around the tarmac at airports as the ground support equipment for incoming and outbound flights.
