Australia’s renewable energy and storage project pipeline has surpassed $20 billion worth of investment in 2018, with currently 14.6 gigawatts (GW) of projects under construction which will deliver 13,000 direct jobs across 80 projects.
The Australian clean energy industry is finally “on the verge of a major breakthrough” according to the Clean Energy Australia Report launched by the Clean Energy Council this week, which highlighted the industry’s record-breaking 2017 in terms of investment and rooftop solar installations.
The head of Australia’s Clean Energy Council, Kane Thornton, has highlighted the need for the country’s politicians to focus on transitioning to a low-carbon, renewable energy future at the lowest possible cost, and building policies which will support the phase-out of coal and the growth of investment in renewable energy generation.
