97% of Auto Mechanics Can’t Work on Electric Cars, New Report Concludes

Recently published studies from the UK’s Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) revealed that as many as 97% of active auto mechanics aren’t qualified to work on electric cars. Worse, of that 3% of auto mechanics who are qualified, the vast majority of them are employed at manufacturer dealerships, presenting prospective EV buyers with very limited service options


Mitsubishi UK Technicians Will Receive Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Training

In conversations with city employees about a swift transition to EVs, I listen to the feedback about the mechanics, the technicians that work on city-owned vehicles. They are not accustomed to EVs, but it is time to train them to become experts. That is what Mitsubishi is doing — in the UK. All technicians will receive IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) qualifications in electric and hybrid vehicles
