Porsche recently brought the Cross Turismo electric SUV to California for journalists to drive. They came away highly impressed with the car, which might go into production as soon as 2020.
In late March, we got seemingly definitive word from Tesla CEO Elon Musk that the Tesla Model 3 would not have a HUD (heads-up display). Since the unveiling event over a year ago (or even before it), there was a great deal of speculation that the 3 would include a HUD. Given how common this speculation/expectation was, it seems odd that Elon took so long to state that the 3 would not have a HUD.
Does the Tesla Model 3 need a HUD (heads-up display)? Or is the center-mounted tablet display enough to make up for the lack of a conventional instrument cluster behind the driving wheel?
In keeping with the recent tradition of Volkswagen (obliquely) stating that it will continue following one step behind Tesla, Volkswagen brand chief Klaus Bischoff has stated that the firm’s upcoming ID electric vehicle will “completely reinvent vehicle instrumentation systems.” The VW ID isn’t slated to hit the market until the end of the decade.
