Germany’s latest onshore wind tender has again been significantly undersubscribed, failing to come anywhere near the 650 megawatts (MW) on offer and awarding only 208 MW, continuing a year-long trend which can be easily traced back to substantial permitting issues.
The German solar industry has walked away the sole winner from Germany’s most recent solar and onshore wind tender, receiving contracts for the entire 210 megawatts (MW) awarded in an auction which was heavily oversubscribed.
Germany’s Federal Network Agency finally announced the winners last week of its first special tender for large-scale solar PV that was held in early March, in which 121 contracts were awarded totaling 505 megawatts (MW) of capacity at an average price of €0.065 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
The average price awarded in Germany’s third onshore wind auction this year climbed slightly to €61.6 per megawatt-hour (MWh) due primarily to the country’s lengthy permitting process, according to experts.
Germany’s Federal Network Agency announced the winners this week from its first onshore wind and solar auctions for 2018, awarding more than 900 megawatts to over 100 separate projects.
