Top 10 Battery Companies For Chinese Electric Buses

April 14th, 2018 | by Tim Dixon

2017 was another big year for the deployment of electric buses in China, with 89,546 electric buses deployed, but who supplies the batteries that are creating the world's largest electric bus fleets in the world? For this, we need to find the 2017 Chinese installed capacity

New Nissan LEAF Lands With A Bang In Europe (Europe Electric Car Sales Report)

April 9th, 2018 | by Jose Pontes

The European passenger plug-in market scored over 22,000 registrations in February 2018, growing 39% compared to the same period last year (YoY) and pulling the year-to-date count to almost 47,000, a 35% increase over the same period in 2017. The plug-in vehicle market now holds a 1.9% market share in Europe. Unfortunately, plug-in hybrids (+54% YoY) continue to outrun fully electric vehicles (+26%), thus increasing by two percentage points their lead over fully electric cars (55% vs 45%)

Tesla Model 3 = #1 In Q1 2018 US Electric Car Sales

April 6th, 2018 | by Zachary Shahan

The Tesla Model 3 appears to have been the top selling fully electric car in the United States in the first quarter of 2018. If you believe my estimates (see more on those below), #2 and #3 on the list were the Tesla Model S and Tesla Model

Tesla Model 3 Wins February (Despite Production Woes), Other Electric Car Sales Dim In USA

March 5th, 2018 | by Zachary Shahan

Here's our February electric car sales report for the United States, which complements our just-published Europe and China electric car sales reports. As usual, the report only includes electric cars from Tesla and companies that report their monthly plug-in car sales. Furthermore, the Tesla sales are not official and are based on several Tesla statements, Tesla reports, Tesla forecasts, and broader consumer investigation. This month, I also started crowdsourcing estimates for Model 3 deliveries. My estimate was leaning toward 3,000, but I decided to go with Knetter's estimate of 3,030 for the report

Europe Electric Car Sales In January — VW e-Golf Starts In The Lead

March 3rd, 2018 | by Jose Pontes

The European passenger plug-in car market started the 2018 season with almost 26,000 registrations, growing 36% compared to the same period last year, a promising start that unfortunately is being made for the most part thanks to growth in plug-in hybrids (+44% year over year). In fact, plug-in hybrids now represent more than half (53%) of deliveries

Tesla Model 3 Deliveries In February — What Do You Think?

February 28th, 2018 | by Zachary Shahan

I was about to close out the month and get off the computer (at 2:20 am, admittedly), but then something obvious hit me — why not crowdsource the coming Tesla Model 3 delivery estimate for the month of February? I generally base Tesla delivery estimates for my monthly US electric car sales reports on many factors, but I've somehow not previously thought to tap the vast CleanTechnica reader knowledge & speculation base for support

Tesla Factory In Shanghai Facing Delays

February 14th, 2018 | by Steve Hanley

Negotiations between Tesla and the city of Shanghai about building a factory in that city's Free Trade Zone appear to have stalled over whether Tesla must work with a local partner.

GM Not Trying To Woo Tesla Model 3 Reservation Holders With Chevy Bolt

February 10th, 2018 | by Matt Pressman

Although Tesla finished the year with record sales, it's gotten off to a slow start with the Model 3. With a 455,000-person wait list, a lengthy wait lies ahead for plenty of Model 3 reservation holders. Automotive News reports, "That leaves an opening for other EV makers, such as Chevy, to woo away Tesla customers. But it's not an opening Chevy plans on openly exploiting, the company said."

Big Auto, We Have A Problem — US Electric Car Sales Report

February 4th, 2018 | by Zachary Shahan

Looking at the US sales of top electric cars (including plug-in hybrids), one thing stands out in January: Tesla dominates. This is unlikely to change anytime soon. Though, hopefully Nissan LEAF sales surge with the new version and hopefully Bolt, Volt, and Prius Prime sales rise higher than they did by the end of
