Electrify America is a leader in behind-the-meter energy storage, and they’re adding power to many charging stations!
Charging an electric truck or bus at a fleet depot — or an electric car at an apartment, workplace, or a public fast-charging station — should be far cheaper than filling up on gasoline or diesel. Unfortunately, that’s often not the case at sites that receive electricity under utility rates designed for commercial buildings and industrial operations that don’t reflect the flexible nature of electric vehicle (EV) charging. Fortunately, a newly-released report explains how utilities can remedy that mismatch by offering rates designed for commercial EV charging.
Solar energy advocates have won an important legal battle against demand charges imposed on rooftop solar customers in Kansas.
Annual US energy storage installations will surge from 51MWh in 2013 to 3,659MWh by 2020 on improving economics and policy developments, predicted GTM Research’s Shayle Kann.
Originally published on RMI Outlet. By Mark Dyson The debate over rooftop solar has grown increasingly contentious, pitting solar PV companies against utilities in many parts of the country. But nowhere has the debate been more heated than in sunny Arizona, where many customers have flocked to rooftop solar as … [continued]
Originally published on RMI Outlet. By Matt Lehrman Demand charges for commercial and industrial customers have long been a part of the electric industry. Since utilities need to build infrastructure to meet both instantaneous and long-term requirements, the utility bill contains both an energy charge, which measures the amount of … [continued]
