Bail Out The American Public, Not Big Oil

The COVID-19 pandemic is a national crisis, and the need to address the health and safety of communities and workers across the nation is paramount. Yet a number of political leaders are making sure to look out for their corporate friends. Last week, some of the most reliable servants of the fossil fuel industry in the House and Senate sent letters to Interior Secretary Bernhardt asking him to grant royalty relief, lease extensions, and other favors to the oil, gas, and coal industries.

How Many Climate Activists Haven’t Bought A Tesla Because They’ve Been Tricked By Big Oil?

I’m a hardcore climate activist. I’ve been one for approximately 20 years (and writing that sure does make me feel old). I’m quite concerned that we are destroying the livability of this planet for human life and countless other species. Furthermore, I’ve got two young girls, and I’m certain their lives are going to be harder than mine due to more drought, agricultural failures, superstorms, more severe fires, climate-related diseases, flooding, and severe migration challenges. I’d like to do what I can to limit the challenges they will face in an increasingly unstable world.

Future Gas Stations Will Not Have Gas

The year was 1908, the world’s first mass-produced affordable automobile drove onto comically scarce streets. The transition from horse-driven carriages to gas-powered autos was officially beginning. After some back and forth, electric and steam-powered options didn’t make it into the mainstream. In hindsight, gasoline probably wasn’t the best option for the environment, but we’re (finally) working on fixing that now.

Breakdown Of Interdependency Between Big Auto & Big Oil

Some years back I visited one of the major automobile manufacturers with some investor clients of mine. We met the CTO of that particular company, who asked us “what is the biggest mistake the automobile industry has made in the last century?” Despite the varied responses from the audience, we were all surprised by his answer: “We never controlled the fuel value chain” and to that he added “and we won’t make the same mistake with electric cars.”

Big Oil Faces A Formidable Foe In Fight Against Electric Vehicles

Electric utilities are keen on electric vehicles these days — they see them as a future revenue source. Utilities from California to Florida to Michigan are sponsoring the installation of public charging stations, and some are offering rebates to customers for installing home chargers. To date, at least 50 utilities in 25 states have launched or proposed programs to encourage the buildout of charging infrastructure.

Tesla’s Alligator-Like Adversaries Represent $3.6 Trillion In Revenue Per Year (Infographic)

Many have wondered why the mainstream press coverage of Tesla is so relentlessly negative. Someone who wasn’t familiar with the company, glancing at a typical day’s headlines, might imagine that Tesla is a company that uses child labor to manufacture chemical weapons to sell to terrorists, rather than one that builds universally-admired cars in American factories with the goal of reducing air pollution and making the roads safer.
