The United States Senate on Thursday confirmed fossil fuel hawk Bernard McNamee to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which regulates interstate electricity and natural gas transmission and sales, a move which has immediately angered environment and clean energy campaigners.
The city council for Washington, DC has voted unanimously in favor of a renewable energy standard that will see 100% of the city’s electricity come from renewables by 2032. The Senate, meanwhile, has voted to recommend the appointment of Koch stooge Bernard McNamee to FERC.
The Trump Administration announced on Wednesday its intention to nominate Bernard L. McNamee to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), a move which is already supported by the fossil fuel industry and will serve to further muddy the future of the country’s energy sector.
