The German plug-in vehicle (PEV) market continued on the right track in June, having registered 8,631 units. Fully electric vehicles (BEVs) were up strong, +117% year over year (YoY), compensating for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drop of –9%, and all-electrics now represent two-thirds of plug-in registrations. The PEV share of the overall auto market was 2.7% in May, with BEVs alone hitting 1.8%. That pushed the 2019 plug-in share slightly up, to 2.6% (1.7% BEV).

How Did A Nissan LEAF Beat A Tesla Model S In A Race?

The Nissan LEAF certainly doesn’t have a reputation as a serious performance car. With far less power than any Tesla, “semi-independent” rear suspension like you’d find under a Chevy Cavalier, and many similarities with the Versa, the LEAF is widely regarded as an economy car, not a luxury or sports car. It certainly isn’t seen as a real competitor to a Tesla, even an older Model S.

This article is not literally about turning over a new leaf, nor about turning over a new leaf, specifically, as opposed to an old leaf. Nor is it about rolling a Nissan LEAF onto its roof. I can honestly say that no Nissan LEAF was harmed during the making of this article, and no Nissan LEAF got turned over, rolled, flipped, totalled, trashed, wrecked, wasted, or whatever other words might come to mind.
