The auto leasing firm LeasePlan is partnering with the on-demand taxi service Uber for the launch of a new pilot in Amsterdam that will see 30 all-electric Nissan Leaf EVs put into the hands of uberX drivers there, according to a new press release from the companies.

Season 3’s contributions should be a bit more regular than Season 2 was, given that I’ve moved — “pivoted” in Silicon Valley lingo — from my full-time engineering job to communications consulting, specifically to be able to dedicate more time to the podcast and related activities.

The Santa Monica Alt Car Expo is consistently packed to the brim with useful people and experiences, which makes it one of the best events at promoting plug-in and alternative fuel vehicles. Year after year, I look forward to attending to not only see and drive the latest electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles, but to also meet up with the team of people who actually know all the ins and outs of the car.
Electric cars and other vehicles continue to gain momentum, just as autonomous features are becoming mainstream. But while potential job losses due to autonomy are a strong focus, the multitude of impacts electrification will have on road transportation aren’t as clearly stated.
