The Texas State Fair is here! For those of us (I say us because I lived in both places) in North Texas and North Louisiana, October is a time of revelry. In Shreveport, we host the Louisiana State Fair, and I often went there as a kid on Halloween. It’s a safe and fun place to trick-or-treat, and back then, it was the thing to do.
It was a mild and breezy evening on Fulton Street Alley in New Orleans, where several supporters and stakeholders who hope to make a difference in the world via alternative fuels came together for an award ceremony presented by Louisiana Clean Fuels (LCF).

Louisiana Clean Fuels, an independent nonprofit affiliated with the US Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program, is helping Louisiana electric vehicle owners by creating a master plan for DC fast charging.
The goal is to create easily accessible charging spots for electric vehicles that are not Teslas (but Tesla owners can use them as well) throughout the state along the state’s Interstate highways.
Louisiana hosted several National Drive Electric Week events, and I got to go to two of them, the Abita Springs one last week and the Gonzales one today. In Gonzales, Plugin Louisiana and Louisiana Clean Fuels teamed up with Tanger Outlet Mall to help bring awareness about electric vehicles and clean energy. I got to tag along with Karen Rudisil, owner of a Tesla Model X.
Tesla’s New Orleans service center may soon be here. Right now, it’s in “coming soon” mode on the Tesla website. In 2018, The Times-Picayune first reported that Tesla would opening a service center in New Orleans. Tesla is renovating an existing warehouse lot on Tchoupitoulas Street to provide space for new vehicles ready for delivery. In plans Tesla filed with the city, the center will perform maintenance and repair services for Tesla vehicles and be a delivery point for new vehicle orders. This information came from 2018.
Abita Springs Drive Electric Day was held on Sunday, September 15, and was a part of the nationwide celebration of EVs known as National Drive Electric Week. Abita is known for its wide range of local brews. One of my favorites is Purple Haze, another is the holiday edition, Creole Cream Ale (which can’t get here quick enough!).
A new study by Consumer Reports show that many states are seemingly punishing electric vehicle (EV) drivers for owning an EV.
It’s National Night Out, and you know what that means! Food, community partnerships, and hot summer nights of fun just before school starts. The event started as a way to bring together communities to help fight crime in a positive way. Tonight marks 17 years of get-togethers across the nation.
