Kia has released final pricing details for its Niro PHEV, which comes in LX, EX, and EX Premium trim levels. The cars should begin arriving in dealer showrooms in January.
A lot has changed since I first compiled a list of the 11 electric cars with the most range. Most of those cars no longer make the list. Furthermore, there are a handful of affordable electric cars that have jumped into the high-range bracket. Have a look below (and compare to that 2015 list) for more details.
Hyundai is now aiming to bring as many as 38 “green cars” to market over the next 8 years — with 7 models now slated for release within just the next 5 years — the company has revealed.

Kia Motors has won the “PHEV Manufacturer of the Year” award at GreenFleet Awards 2017, according to an email sent to CleanTechnica. Additionally, two of the company’s new offerings, the Kia Niro PHEV (plug-in hybrid) SUV and the Optima Sportswagon PHEV, won their categories at the Next Green Car Awards 2017.
The European passenger plug-in vehicle (PEV) market seems to have reached a turning point, with October growing 56% in comparison to the same period last year, to over 27,000 units. This is the 5th month in the last 6 with +50% growth rates.
As you probably would have guessed by now, the 2017 LA Auto Show is much more electric than it has been over the past few years. BMW is still refining its electric lineup, Kia has stepped up its Niro hybrid to now include and plug, and Volvo is bringing out two superb plug-in hybrids (PHEV).
Kia has brought its highly anticipated 2018 Niro Plug-in Hybrid to North America with the official arrival of the vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. The Nira PHEV sports an impressive 26 miles of all-electric range.
