The European plug-in car market started its usual holiday season in July, down almost a third compared to the previous month (summertime = lower sales). There were some 19,600 registrations. But that is still up 41% regarding the same month last year, so the growth trend continues. Year to date, the market is up 34% this year, with the EV share now standing at a record 1.6%.
If Europe is to fall in line with the Paris Climate Agreement intention of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, the region must significantly increase its rate of growth for offshore wind development, tripling it at the very least.

Just a few months after a team in Belgium broke the previous record, a team in Italy has now gone and set yet another new record for hypermiling in an electric car. The Tesla Owners Italia team managed to take a Tesla Model S 100D 1078 kilometers (~670 miles) on a single charge … meaning that the record set in Belgium in June 2017 (~560 miles) was surpassed by a margin of around 110 miles.
