Solar Powered Nissan Leaf — Video Update!

CleanTechnica and EVObsession appreciate the innovative, including early EV adopters. Although we support the wonders of icons such as Elon Musk and his oh so Zen Teslas, we also value every other EV. Being an old organic farmer raised in innovative cultures of do-it-yourself lifestyles, I certainly value action-oriented individuals such as Sam Elliot. Sam is one of the doers not afraid of smaller range EVs to live the zero-emissions way of life. His innovative work helping him to use a smaller-range EV without that any range anxiety is one to be validated and cheered.

Perplexing Accord & Camry Buyers … 7 Year Old Tesla Model S Battery Degradation ……

The most popular CleanTechnica article of September did not have “Tesla” in the title, but if you read the piece, you can see the story is closely tied to the Tesla Model 3. The shock I just couldn’t stop shaking was about how many people continue to buy new Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords. Compared to the Model 3, I get it — even if they have the same 5 year cost of ownership (possible), they have a lower upfront price. That said, if $100–200 a month is a dealbreaker for someone looking at these options, my opinion is that they definitely shouldn’t be buying a new car at all. But hey, that’s just my opinion.

Volkswagen ID.3 vs. Nissan LEAF & Hyundai Kona EV — Range & Price Comparisons

We still don’t have much info on the Volkswagen ID.3, but we have a little bit to go on regarding price and range.

The base version of the ID.3 is supposed to be under €30,000. I’m assuming that means just under, so will round up to €30,000. The “up to” (idealistic) WLTP range on that trim is 330 km (205 miles). How do these figures compare to the Nissan LEAF and Hyundai Kona EV?

Face-Off: 2015 Nissan LEAF S vs. 2018 Tesla Model 3 LR

Last week, Arthur Driessen — the intrepid Tesla Model 3 explorer crisscrossing the United States in his Tesla Model 3 — brought his 2018 Model 3 LR to CleanTechnica’s sumptuous New England regional offices, otherwise known as Blueberry Pointe, my home in Rhode Island. Since picking up up his car in April, 2018, Arthur has put almost 90,000 miles on the car in his quest to visit every Supercharger location in the US.

DIY Solar Nissan LEAF, Tesla Demoralizing Automakers, Model 3 The “Ultimate Driving Machine” — CleanTechnica…

The most popular stories on CleanTechnica last week were led by the story of a DIYer in Texas who bought a used Nissan LEAF and turned it into a solar car. After that, it was the usual Tesla bonanza — a major auto reviewer (in this case Edmunds) showering impressive praise on the Tesla Model 3 (calling it the “ultimate driving machine”), some hot tweets from Elon Musk (in this case regarding the coming Tesla pickup truck), and more Tesla sales record (in this case, over in Europe in June).
