The BMW iX electric SUV is scheduled go start production in about a year. With a range of 300 miles and a 0 to 60 time of just under 5 seconds, it breaks little new ground, except for the size of its enormous grille.
The BMW iX3 shares the same platform as the plug-in hybrid, the mild hybrid, and the fossil fuel X3 models. The iX3 will be built at the BMW/Brilliance Automotive joint venture plant in China where BMW has been producing the X3. BMW also produces the X3 in Rosslyn, Pretoria, South Africa. Since they share the same platform, we hope in the long run BMW can start to also build the iX3 in Pretoria.
Since BMW launched the i3 (and i8) with a ton of marketing around its “born electric” future, electric vehicle hopefuls have seen their enthusiasm for BMW slowly go downhill.

It seems like this is the most relevant comparison you can make with the Model 3 SR+, since we already know the Model 3 beats sporty BMW driving at sporty, beats “the ultimate driving machine” at driving, and is stealing the title of Most Loved Car Brand Among Boys. What does BMW have left? Lower cost?
