BMW Electrified Vehicle Sales Top 50,000 (2017 Sales Through July)

With a fairly broad “green” array — eclectic blend of attractive electrified vehicles — the BMW Group is apparently the world’s 3rd biggest plug-in car manufacturer. With the best ever July for BMW Group, the company’s total plug-in car sales through July surpassed 50,000. “Year-to-date electrified sales increase 74.8% to 50,711,” a press release from the Bavarian auto manufacturer stated.

24 Hours With The New, Longer Range 2017 BMW i3 (CleanTechnica Exclusive)

This review summarizes my early learnings in my first day with the new longer range BMW i3. A comprehensive review will follow, but I have found that some of the most important and impactful learnings about a vehicle arise very early on in vehicle use, as that is generally the time in which prospective buyers will make their decisions.

My comments include the background of time I’ve spent with the vast majority of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles available in the United States (including owning at various times the Nissan LEAF, Tesla Model S, and Mercedes B250e).

2017 World Urban Car = BMW i3 (94 Ah)

As the inaugural winner of the 2017 World Urban Car award at the New York International Auto Show, the new BMW i3 (94 Ah) is getting a well deserved nod of attention. The i3 is a blast to drive, subcompact (allowing for much easier urban parking and maneuvering), elegant, clean, and widely available. In a world of growing city fees or bans for dirty vehicles, it’s apropos that an electric vehicle win the inaugural World Urban Car award.
