This week we broke a record — the smallest number of articles about Tesla. While there is merit to the argument that bad press is still press, Tesla doesn’t need it.

Some might say this has been a slow news week for Tesla. There were only 122 articles this week and the average over the past 9 weeks is around 190. This slow news week, however, is quite artificial. It’s a choice, because there was plenty of news that the mainstream media just decided to not report at all or only briefly cover.
We are very excited to be able to tell you that while this month started out not that well, the last few weeks totally made up for that and the results show it. We would very much like to thank Maye Musk for retweeting our reports and calling out the most negative, sad, biased authors. While we can’t be sure what helped the most, we believe that the actions of Maye Musk and the times Elon Musk liked and commented on the reports have slowly helped bring some of the mainstream media back to their senses over the last two months.
Last week, we had the Tesla shareholder letter and earnings call, indicating that Tesla made a profit of $312 million. Clearly, this has significantly influenced the results this week, right?
In the name of Tesla and all of its supporters, I proclaim that this week is a win. This is the first week since September 1st (when we started #Pravduh) that there is more positive news about Tesla than negative news. As a matter of fact, if I hadn’t had my cup of coffee, I might have thought that I accidentally mislabeled and switched the positive and negative categories. Only 14% negative news!
There were “only” 50 negative Tesla headlines last week in the 22 major media outlets we track for our weekly #Pravduh reports. That’s the lowest we’ve seen since we started the project 6 weeks ago. That might seem good on the surface, but it’s irrelevant without context. What happened with regard to Tesla last week?
Last week included record-shattering production and delivery numbers from Tesla and thus a dramatic shift in the US automotive market. The American-made Model 3 became the 4th highest selling car in the United States and was for the second month in a row the highest grossing car in the United States. It was the only car in the top 7 produced by an American car company. Furthermore, the Model 3 totally demolished the competition in the luxury car market and Tesla as a whole was the top selling luxury vehicle brand in the country. The week also included an SEC lawsuit regarding some of Elon’s tweets and a settlement regarding that lawsuit. How did the headlines match up with that news and more? Read on to find out.

This is the third publication of what the CleanTechnica team calls #Pravduh About #Tesla. For those who somehow missed it, about 4 months ago, Elon Musk got fed up with so much of the media publishing FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) articles about Tesla, and in some cases outright misinformation, that he got an idea.
On September 17th, as a person living on Earth, I was so happy to see Yusaku Maezawa and Elon Musk announce they were sending artists to orbit the Moon via SpaceX’s BFR. It gave me hope that one day my family could go to space! A positive and uplifting message. Reality intruded and led me to anger and despair.
