March 6th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

We're at a pretty wild time in automotive history. We've got a car on the market that has better performance than a BMW 3 Series or 4 Series, is safer than any other passenger car, has a "fuel efficiency" rating of about 120 MPGe, and has a 5-year total cost of ownership comparable with a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord

The most popular CleanTechnica articles of January were led by a CleanTechnica analysis showing (before Kelley Blue Book came out with its rankings) that the Tesla Model 3 was performing exceptionally well on the used car market. A comparison between the Tesla Model 3 and Honda Accord slotted into the #2 spot, and a perspective-focused piece on Tesla's December sales and inventory landed in #

Tesla Inside + Honda Outside = 0–60 In 2.48 Seconds

February 2nd, 2019 | by Kyle Field

The cloud of smoke parted and the unassuming lines of a 1981 Honda Accord crept out, as if embarrassed. Flashbacks of childhood pop in. Memories of the reliable family Honda that took us to school and back, to church and the grocery store, to afternoon soccer practices and the occasional road trip. It was the family car

January 12th, 2019 | by Paul Fosse

For today's article, I'm going to go over all the major areas of each car (Driving Dynamics, Interior, Exterior, Safety, Technology, and Costs), but before I do, I'm going to tell you why I bought a Honda Accord in 1998 and why it was my favorite car (until I bought the Tesla Model 3 last year)

Honda Accord Sales & Civic Sales Drop 80,000 In 2018

January 5th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

To start, let me just put this out there: I'm not claiming Honda's car sales are collapsing solely because of the Model 3, even though Tesla Model 3 sales totaled ~140,000 in the US in 2018 and two of the top models buyers were coming from were the Honda Accord and Honda Civic. There has to be more to it than that. Right

The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Scam — From George W. Bush & “The Big 3” To Toyota, Honda, & Japan

January 2nd, 2019 | by Guest Contributor

On February 6th of 2003, George W Bush gave a speech in which he touted the benefits of a hydrogen economy. Far from being farsighted or progressive, it may well have been one of the worst examples of greenwashing in our lifetime. The gist of the speech was that we should avoid raising fuel economy standards and deploying clean technologies such as electric cars and renewable energy and instead pursue a transition from fossil fuels to a hydrogen economy

Plowing With Honda Motorbikes Looks Fun — But Reveals An Actual Problem

December 19th, 2018 | by Jesper Berggreen

At first I couldn't help smiling, because it looked like these guys were just having fun with a new idea, but knowing this area from living there myself many years back, I suspected this was not just for the fun of it. I asked Tatila Anthony what motivated this practice, and he explained: "It's used when people fail to access cattle. You know in Zambia cattle die as a result of diseases, so they resort to using Hondas for ploughing. The advantage is also that it is faster."

December 17th, 2018 | by Zachary Shahan

Before the modern electric car era, if you needed a car and wanted something fuel efficient, your best options were generally Toyotas and Hondas, the two companies that led on hybrids and fuel-efficient non-hybrids. There are generations of drivers who still love Toyota and Honda as a result of those cars and these two companies' reputations for reliability, fuel efficiency, and high quality for the money. But Tesla is now setting a much higher bar, and consumers are responding

December 8th, 2018 | by Steve Hanley

Researchers at Honda, NASA, and Caltech say they have created a prototype of a fluoride battery that could have 10 times the energy density of a lithium-ion battery. There are just a few minor issues to work out, like how to keep the electrodes from dissolving.
